Social Skills are best taught in a variety of environments (classroom, community, home) and family involvement is key to achieving goals and to generalization of social skills.
Dawn Stahlberg, M.Ed.
Dawn Stahlberg has a Master’s Degree in Special Education from the University of Oregon. She has 30 years of experience serving individuals and families in a range of capacities.
As a Special Education Teacher, Dawn assisted families in identifying goals and developed programs to help her students achieve those goals.
As a Behavioral Specialist, Dawn worked closely with families and school teams, to help the individual change challenging behaviors and to learn positive, functional skills to replace those behaviors.
As an Autism Specialist, Dawn traveled throughout the state of Oregon, helping to identify students on the spectrum and to provide trainings for teachers and support for family members. Working with a multi-disciplinary team at Easter Seals in Arkansas, Dawn provided professional development and consultation throughout the state.
As Director of an agency she founded, Dawn provided consultation and trainings to schools, support to families and direct services to individuals on the autism spectrum. She led a parent support group for 10 years. Dawn also designed and directed a 3-week summer social skills camp that ran for 7 years. The camp focused on social skills, self-awareness and advocacy, and sensory processing challenges.
